Attention: Patrolling Members

In relation to the current outbreak of the COVID-19 virus that is affecting countries around the world, we are implementing some recommendations to ensure our members stay safe whilst conducting patrolling and lifesaving services/duties.

Below list best practices that should be performed while on patrol:

  • Regular hand washing and a heightened focus on hygiene.

  • Use of PPE (ie gloves) if treating members of the public for ANY first aid case.

  • Regular cleaning of patrolling equipment (including, first aid room, kits, PPE ect..)

  • Cleaning lifejackets and any shared use PPE.

  • The use of CPR training manikins and other like first aid training equipment will be suspended until further notice and shall only be used in official training under the direction of a qualified trainer.

Over the coming weeks if you are feeling unwell, please contact your patrol captain or myself and we will arrange a replacement. If you are experiencing Coronavirus like symptoms or think you have contracted COVID-19, contact the Department of Public Health Hotline on 1800 022 222 or refer to the attached document. Please also contact the Club so we can put the appropriate measures in place. Attached is a resource from the department of health as well as information released from SLST. At this stage, patrols will run as per normal. However, if you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Simon Bailey (Club Captain). Kind Regards,

Ned Reardon
